Vintage 1970s IWC Electronic Tuning Fork Day-Date in 18K Yellow Gold

A stunning example of horological transition, this 1970s IWC Electronic features the iconic Calibre 160 tuning fork movement. This “hummers” movement provides a unique, perfectly smooth sweeping second hand and a nostalgic low-frequency hum. The watch is housed in a substantial 18K solid yellow gold cushion-shaped case, reflecting the bold aesthetic of the era. The champagne dial remains crisp, featuring applied black and gold baton indices, a day-date window at 3 o’clock, and the classic “International Watch Co.” script. A rare piece that bridges the gap between mechanical soul and electronic precision.
Made in the 1970s, this was IWC 1st attempt for the electronic era during 70s when quartz was the main theme during this period. The watch uses a Bulova patented Cal.160 high frequency movement which is a high grade type. Solid 18K yellow gold case and back cover (hallmarked), date / day function.
